Velina Villarreal – PTSD and Addiction Treatment in Austin
Velina Villarreal is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist, and a National Certified Counselor. She received a Master’s Degree in School Counseling, a CACREP accredited program from Texas State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Learning and Development with a Minor in Bilingual Education from the University of Texas at Austin.
Velina assists Dr. Dye in her private practice and focuses on issues of sex and love addiction and childhood trauma. She has years of experience working with people who struggle to maintain healthy adult relationships, have addictive behaviors, and experience symptoms of unresolved trauma.
Velina has been working with children and parents for over 12 years. She was a bilingual classroom teacher for three years when her interest in helping others beyond academics was sparked after attending a training about positive behavioral support. She has extensive experience working with learning disabled and severely emotional disturbed children and families. She has worked as a professional school counselor for six years and was recently nominated for School Counselor of the Year.
